18-year-old Canadian tennis sensation Victoria Mboko pulled off a historic upset by defeating four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the final of the 2025 National Bank Open in Montreal. With this victory, Mboko becomes the youngest Canadian WTA champion and the second youngest player in the Open Era to beat four Grand Slam winners in a single tournament.
Osaka came out firing, dominating the first set with a commanding 6-2 win. Her powerful baseline shots and precise serves gave Mboko little room to breathe. But the teenager refused to back down.
