
Former Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen player Granit Xhaka is expected to return to the Premier League as Sunderland has agreed a deal to sign him. After an invincible Bundesliga season with Bayer Leverkusen in 2024 and a top-two finish in 2025, the Swiss mid-fielder makes a move to Sunderland.
Fabrizio Romano tweeted on X, “EXCLUSIVE: Granit Xhaka to Sunderland, here we go! Deal agreed between all parties involved. Understand fee will be €20m, contract until 2027. Green light from Bayer Leverkusen for the player to fly today and complete his move to #SAFC, one more ambitious signing.”
Granit had previously won the FA Cup (2016-17 and 2019-20), the Florida Cup (2022), the Emirates Cup (2017 and 2022), and the FA Community Shield (2017/18 and 2020/21) with Arsenal. For Bayer Leverkusen side, he won DFB Pokal (2023/24), BundesLiga (2023/24) and Super Cup (2024/25).
With great achievements in his record books, Xhaka is coming back to Premier League with aim to shine again with Sunderland.
