The legendary left-back of Real Madrid joins Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer.
After nearly 500 appearances in La Liga, veteran winger Lucas Vázquez has brought his glittering Real Madrid career to an end, completing a move to Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen. The 34-year-old Spaniard joins on a free transfer and is expected to see out the remainder of his career in Germany under head coach Erik ten Hag.
Vázquez, who briefly played on loan at Espanyol in the 2014/15 season, made his penultimate appearance for Los Blancos in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain. Over more than a decade at the Santiago Bernabéu, he became one of the club’s most reliable and versatile players, registering 38 goals and 58 assists across all competitions.
