Liverpool FC has taken center stage this summer after spending a staggering £270 million on new signings — making it the most expensive transfer window in the club’s history. Following a relatively quiet summer in 2023, where only manager Arne Slot and Federico Chiesa were brought in, the Reds have gone all out in the 2024–25 season, securing a host of high-profile names.
So far, Liverpool have signed Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pesci, and Freddie Woodman. In addition, negotiations are ongoing for Newcastle United’s star forward Alexander Isak. Let’s take a closer look at the confirmed signings so far:
Florian Writz
The German attacking midfielder joins Liverpool for a record fee of £116 million on a five-year deal from Bayer Leverkusen. The 22-year-old made 197 appearances and scored 57 goals for the German club. During his time at Leverkusen, Wirtz played a key role in their 2023–24 Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal triumphs, completing the season undefeated under former Liverpool player Xabi Alonso. He has also earned 31 international caps for Germany, scoring 7 goals. Before turning professional, he developed at FC Köln U17 and Bayer Leverkusen U19.
JeremIE Frimpong
Frimpong joins Liverpool for a fee of £29.6 million, also from Bayer Leverkusen, reuniting with Wirtz. A dynamic right-back known for his pace and attacking flair, he scored 30 goals in 190 appearances for Leverkusen. He was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season in both 2022–23 and 2023–24, playing a major role in their historic unbeaten double-winning campaign. Frimpong began his youth career at Manchester City, then moved to Celtic in 2019.

The former France U21 international started his senior career with Stade de Reims in 2020–21 before transferring to Paris Saint-Germain, where he made 33 appearances and scored 4 goals, winning the Ligue 1 title. In 2023–24, Ekitike joined Frankfurt on loan, earning a spot in the Bundesliga Team of the Season 2024–25 with a standout campaign.
Milos Kerkez
Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez joins from AFC Bournemouth for £40 million. Giorgi Mamardashvili
Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili signs from Valencia for a fee of £25 million, plus £4 million in add-ons. He becomes the first Georgian player in Liverpool’s history. Mamardashvili was named Goalkeeper of the Year (2020) and Footballer of the Year (2024) in Georgia. Starting his career at FC Rustavi, he later played for Lokomotivi Tbilisi before joining Valencia in 2021, where he kept 13 clean sheets in the 2023–24 La Liga season.
