ATP World No. 7 Ben Shelton and World No. 4 Taylor Fritz advanced to the semi-finals of the 2025 National Bank Open after commanding straight-set victories in their respective quarter-final clashes. The two Americans will now face each other in a highly anticipated all-American semi-final on Wednesday, August 6.

For 22-year-old Shelton, the win marks a career milestone as he reaches his first ATP Masters 1000 semi-final, becoming the youngest American to achieve this feat at a Masters 1000 event in the Open Era.

Shelton displayed complete control over the contest, defeating Australian opponent Alex de Minaur with a dominant 3-6, 4-6 scoreline. The left-handed American impressed with his powerful serve, registering a higher percentage on both first and second serves, while also converting 3 out of 5 break point opportunities. His aggressive baseline play and sharp returns gave De Minaur little room to recover.

Meanwhile, Taylor Fritz held his ground in a competitive match against World No. 11 Andrey Rublev. Fritz took the opening set 3-6 with ease, breaking the Russian early. The second set saw tighter exchanges, with Rublev pushing Fritz to a tiebreak. However, the 27-year-old American sealed the match with composure, winning 6(4)-7(7) in the second set. Fritz delivered a consistent serving performance, landing aces at crucial moments and maintaining strong break-point defense.

This all-American showdown between Shelton and Fritz will take place after the semi-final clash between Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov. The match is scheduled for Wednesday evening on the hard courts of Toronto, as part of the ATP Masters 1000 series event, National Bank Open presented by Rogers.
