Nottingham Forest have confirmed the signing of French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Stade Rennais in a deal worth £26 million, with the forward penning a five-year contract at the City Ground.

Kalimuendo, 22, began his professional career with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) before enjoying two loan spells at RC Lens, where he established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most promising young attackers.

Since joining Rennes in 2022, the striker has been prolific in front of goal, scoring 40 goals in 112 appearances for the French club. Last season alone, he netted 18 goals and registered three assists in 34 matches, underlining his reputation as a consistent goalscorer.

On the international stage, Kalimuendo added further pedigree to his résumé by winning a silver medal with France at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

His arrival comes at a crucial time for Forest, who recently sanctioned the departure of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United. Kalimuendo will now compete for a place in Nuno Espírito Santo’s attack alongside Chris Wood and Igor Jesus, providing depth and firepower for the upcoming Premier League 2025/26 season.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Kalimuendo expressed his excitement at joining Forest:

“When I heard about the interest from Forest, I was honoured. I’m ready for the challenge and I arrive here with good experience. I had a good season last year with goals and assists but I want more and want to reach a new level here.

I can’t wait to play in the Premier League and to play at the City Ground. I watched games from last season and it’s clear the fans create a beautiful atmosphere.”

The transfer was also confirmed by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“Official, confirmed. Arnaud Kalimuendo joins Nottingham Forest on €31.5m deal from Rennes.”

Kalimuendo’s signing marks another statement of intent from Nottingham Forest, as the club looks to strengthen its squad and push further up the Premier League table this season.
