The 28-year old striker Yoane Wissa articulates a bold statement against Brentford for constantly rejecting offers to his preferred club Newcastle United.

Brentford forward Yoane Wissa has publicly expressed his frustration with the club after a series of rejected transfer bids, insisting that the Bees are going back on their promise to allow him to leave this summer.
According to BBC Sport, Brentford turned down an offer worth £35 million plus £5m in add-ons, holding out for a fee closer to £55m. The stance has left the 27-year-old unsettled, with Wissa posting a lengthy statement on Instagram hours before the transfer window closes.
In the statement, also confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Wissa explained that he had been transparent with the club throughout the summer about his desire to seek a new challenge. He revealed that senior management had assured him—both verbally and in writing—that he would be allowed to leave if a “reasonable offer” arrived.
“I have always given 100 percent for Brentford since the day I signed back in 2021,” Wissa wrote. “Earlier this summer, I made clear my intention to explore a new challenge. It was confirmed to me and my representatives that the club would not stand in my way if a fair bid came in. This was also put in writing.”
Wissa went on to stress that he had remained professional, keeping the club informed of negotiations after receiving an official offer from another Premier League side. However, with the window nearing its close, he accused Brentford of “significantly changing their position” and blocking his move despite previous assurances.
“Being made to stay beyond this summer will only tarnish four wonderful years at this incredible club,” he added, appealing directly to Brentford’s owners to “honour their promise” in the final hours of the market.
Since arriving from Lorient in 2021, the DR Congo international has scored 49 goals in 149 appearances, becoming a key figure in Brentford’s attack. His strong performances last season further enhanced his value, drawing interest from multiple Premier League rivals.
Despite his respectful tone toward supporters—whom he thanked for their “energy and belief”—the fallout has escalated. BBC Sport reports that Wissa has unfollowed Brentford’s official accounts on social media, underlining his determination to secure a move.
With just hours left in the window, the standoff between player and club remains unresolved. Brentford face a critical decision: cash in on one of their most valuable assets now, or risk holding on to a player who has made it clear he wants to leave.
