Southern Brave pulls off a dramatic victory over the Manchester Originals, chasing down the total by 1 wicket in hand. The hosts had set the target of 132, thanks to Phil Salt’s 60 off 41, and short cameos from Jos Buttler and Mark Chapman. However, Tymall Mills starred in the first innings, picking 3 for 22. In response, Scott Currie’s 4 for 28 brought an edge to the game but failed to defend the total.

With Matthew Hurst’s early wicket, Salt and Buttler took ownership and started firing. Their 48-run partnership ended by Tymal Mills dismissed Jos at 22. The left-arm pacer also sent off Heinrich Klaasen and destructive Salt. Although, Mark Chapman’s two sixes led the home team to put up a respective target for the visitors.

According to Espncricinfo, Phil Salt surpassed James Vince to become the all-time leading run-scorer in the men’s Hundred.

Despite a short partnership of 32 runs between Leus du Plooy and Jason Roy, Scott Currie made their run chase difficult with his splendid spell of 4 for 28. He picked up crucial wickets of Leus do Plooy, Laurie Evans, Michael Bracewell and Chris Jordan. Sonny Baker departed dangerous Jason Roy at 30.

The match came down to the wire, when the mini-hurdling of Craig Overton and Mills broke in the last over by Lewis Gregory. The guests needed 3 in 2 balls, when Reece Topley entered and smashed a boundary on his first ball, ending the chase in a dramatic fashion.

Tymall Mills was awarded player of the match for his clinical all-round performance.
